Although the attempted sale of Richard Neutra’s 1946 Kaufmann House at Christie’s in May 2008 raised some eyebrows for being included in a sale of contemporary art, Christie’s head of 20th Century decorative art and design defended the decision as being a logical choice. At the time, Joshua Holdeman said : “With an object like this, that people respond to in a visceral way, the decision to put it into the evening art sale indicates our belief that it is as important as the other objects on offer.”

Contemporary chair
Although historically the value of architecture has risen over long-term periods, there have been periods where this has not been the case. There is no guarantee that the architecture market will continue to rise in the future.
