Some investors may be tempted to follow the lead of experienced and savvy household-name collectors when buying artworks. Another angle on the same theme is to follow the buying habits of famous artists like Damien Hirst or Jeff Koons.

The problem is that these living artists are attracted to the best of the best which makes this strategy open to only the wealthiest collectors and investors.  


The Salzburg World Fine Art Fair is still planning to go ahead for 15th-23rd August, which came as somewhat of a surprise after the cancellation of this summer’s Moscow World Fine Art Fair by fair organisers Art Culture Studio (ACS) of Geneva. ACS was a major sponsor and consultant to the Salzburg fair but pulled out of the Moscow fair due to the economic crisis.

Although historically the value of most works of art has risen over long-term periods, there have been periods where this has not been the case. There is no guarantee that the art market will continue to rise in the future.
