In April 2005, at Established & Sons inaugural exhibition, a Zaha Hadid prototype Aqua table was sold for $85,000. Eight months later, the same piece came up for auction at Phillips de Pury in New York where it sold for $300,000 including fees.

“That Hadid table caught a moment. It showed big art collectors that contemporary design could be an important investment.”

- Alasdhair Willis, Founder, Established & Sons

“If you were collecting design ten years ago you were considered to be in very unfashionable waters. It was like collecting photography; and now photography is a very mainstream media in the art world, with its own financial pedigree and rocketing sales history. It’s only a matter of time before design has the same kudos.”

- Matt Langton, Albion Gallery, London
