Collecting
Collector's Corner
On November 15, 2008 at Sotheby’s in Paris the photographic collection of Marie-Thérèse and André Jammes - one of the most important private collections of 19th century photographs - was put up for auction. The collection, which sold for €2 million, represents a history of photography in France and dates back to when the photographic reproduction processes was in its infancy. The collection included works by 19th century photographers such as Edouard Baldus, Bisson Frères, Joseph-Philibert Girault de Prangey, Henri Le Secq, Gustave Le Gray and Charles Nègre.
