Collecting
Insights and Perspectives
Traditionally, philatelists collected stamps by the country from which they were issued. These days thematic collecting is taking place, often reaching beyond stamps to coins and other Emotional Assets that fit a specific theme, for example an era in history. Following are a few examples of the thematic collecting popular today. Collecting a certain subject or famous person, for example this stamp featuring Eva Peron.
Using the stamps themselves to tell a story, such as the history of space exploration as expressed around the globe.
Collecting stamps that reflect one’s favourite artist or art movement, such as this Dutch stamp designed by Mondrian.
